The Effect of Project-Based Learning Model in Junior High School Students’ Creative Thinking Skills

Creative thinking skills are essential to train through the learning process so that students can solve various problems in learning. These abilities are crucial in the twenty-first century. Therefore, it is necessary to innovate learning models in order to enhance students' capacity for creative thought. Project-Based Learning (PjBL) is one such model. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how junior high school students’ creative thingking abilities are impacted by the PjBL model in connection to Indonesian ecology and biodiversity content. The nonequivalent control-group design is the design employed in this study, and the methodology is quasi-experimental. Two SMP Negeri 35 Padang classrooms served as the study's subjects: the experimental class, using a project based learning approach, and the control class, using a conventional method. Data was collected using pretests and posttests, and analysis was done using the t-test. According to the study's findings, both classes' pretreatment creative thinking abilities were identical. Following treatment, the experimental class's capacity for creative thought increased (tcount = 3.784 > ttable = 1.67022). The results showed that the PJBL model influenced students' ability to think creatively.
