The Implementation Of Case Based Learning (CBL) Model To Improve Student’s Problem Solving Skills In SMP Negeri 30 Padang

This study aims to investigated the effect of implementing the CBL model on problem solving skills of 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 30 Padang. All 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 30 Padang were included in the research population. The design of this study is non-equivalent control group design. The research sample was taken using purposive sampling technique, so that the sample was obtained from students of class VIII B and VIII D. The experimental class applied the CBL model and the control class used the conventional learning model. Data collection was done through tests before (pretest) and after treatment (posttest) in the form of description questions for experimental and control classes. The data from the research were analyzed using Microsoft Excel. The findings indicated that there was a significant average difference in students who learned using the CBL model compared to those who used the conventional model who used the conventional model. The t’ test results indicated that > (8.544 > 2.009), this led to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis and the rejection of the null hypothesis. It can be concluded that the CBL model showed a considerable influence on the problem solving ability of 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 30 Padang.
